My children this year have discovered catalogs. Not just any type of catalog, but particularly toy catalogs and novelty catalogs. It started in the spring when we received a Babies R Us flyer that contained several pages of toys. The girls looked at every item in that mailer over and over again picking out everything that interested them.
"I want that! No, I want THAT!" Want, want, want. We are working on changing their "want's" to "would like's".
Before Halloween, we received a catalog from Oriental Trading company that contained a huge collection of Halloween novelties, candy, and decor. Peanut giggled at the candy labeled nose nuggets, ear wax, and fingers. That catalog was looked through so many times that it fell apart. Luckily, a holiday catalog came soon after.
Now we are in the prime season of toy catalogs. We have already received "The Great Big Christmas Book" from Toys R Us, Walmart's "Holiday Toy Catalog", and others. The girls enjoy dreaming of having this toy and that toy. They tend to have pretty expensive taste, too. What they don't know is that Santa is almost done getting their Christmas presents, so anything they find at this point will have to wait. Luckily, for them at least, they have a birthday around the corner.
