Dear Photograph

It is amazing how quickly life can change. One minute we are kids enjoying life playing, riding our bikes, and hanging out with friends. Sometimes our environment never changes while we personally change dramatically. It can be mind blowing to go back to those places where we grew up, hung out with friends, took our kids to play, or enjoyed the company of a loved one long gone. The place may look like time has never touched it, but as we reflect on our lives we realize that moment was more precious than we could have known at the time.

Recently, I came across a really cool blog called Dear Photograph where anyone can submit a photo of someone holding an old photo up in the same place where it was taken. Bringing the old memory back to life in the same surroundings can certainly help us gain perspective.

It got me thinking...What memories do I wish that I could preserve? Perhaps I wish that I could have the moment of sitting with my daddy or dancing at my grandparents 50th anniversary party when I was little. Or the moment when my husband and I walked into our wedding reception as a newly married couple and our guests cheered loudly. The moment when the nurse leaned over me in the recovery room and told me I was the mother of twin baby girls. And still with those little girls we continue to make memories that I know I will desperately miss one day.

What memories do you want to preserve?
