A voluntary recall was issued today through the Consumer Product Safety Commission for 165,000 select Radio Flyer Scoot 'n Zoom riding toys. The CPSC has received complaints that a certain model of this toy has been known to tip forward posing a falling risk to the young rider. Around ten complaints have been filed and injuries have included broken or missing teeth and chin lacerations requiring stitches. Toys affected by this recall were purchased between August 2010 and August 2011 at mass retailers like Walmart and various online websites including Amazon.com.
The Radio Flyer Scoot 'n Zoom riding toy is geared for children 1 1/2 years to 3 years of age. Toy is crafted with a hard molded red seat with front handle and black swivel wheels.
The recalled model is #711 and this number can be found on the underside of the product. The recalled product measures 19" x 11" x 13.5" in size. Models that are marked with #711B and a yellow sticker underneath are not part of this recall. The recalled model is shorter than model #711B.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled models immediately and contact Radio Flyer for a free replacement or refund by calling (800) 621-7613 between 9am to 5pm CT or by visiting their website www.radioflyer.com.
