Doubling Up

I'm all for dressing in layers during those times of year when the weather is changeable and you might need to add a sweater or jacket.  For me, layered clothing is a matter of utility, not a fashion statement.

For the kids, though, it's another matter.  A couple of years ago, teenage girls started wearing two or three tank tops, one on top of the other. The key to this look seems to be carefully arranging the straps of all those tank tops so that all the colors of the tops can be seen.

Tank tops are summer clothes.  It's hot in summer. Most people try to wear as little as possible in summer.  So two or three (or more) tank tops, one on top of the other, have to be uncomfortable.

The price girls pay for fashion...

Now the guys are getting into the act. My daughter told me yesterday that the new fad among the guys she knows is wearing crew socks, with ankle-high socks on top of them, with their athletic shoes.

I'm hoping that neither one of my sons gets into this trend, or I'll be going broke buying Odor-Eaters for their stinky shoes.  More socks leads to more sweat and more laundry--not a winning combination in my book.
