Parker Grills started in a nearly apocalyptic explosion 12 years ago. At least it nearly was for me. I had a year old portable grill from a famous maker who shall remain nameless. this grill spent most of its short, mean life under the seat of my Boston Whaler except for picnics on the beach. This grill often demonstrated its perverse nature by blowing out in the smallest puff of wind. It had a push button lighter. Sometimes the lighter worked. On the natal day of Parker Grills, the lighter didn't spark for at least ten pushes. With the gas still on, the eleventh push ignited most of the space around me, as well as all the space under the smoker plate, which launched past my ear at close to escape velocity. I then launched the grill into the rocks. Black paint flew off that little juggernaut upon impact. After collecting her composure, my wife suggested that maybe I could build a better grill, which is what I think we have done.
